Sophie Rogers RDMP PP MA BA

Licensed for Private Practice and registered with the Association of Dance Movement Psychotherapy UK which is an organisational member of UKCP and EADMT. 

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a BA Honours Fine Art degree 2004. I qualified in 2013 from Canterbury Christ Church University with a Masters in Dance Movement Psychotherapy.

I currently work part time for an organisational member of BACP.


I have worked in the charity and public sector, predominantly with children and young people and their families who have experienced early stages of poor mental health, including anxiety and low mood, abuse and neglect.


My experience includes:

  • Resident Programme Worker - Therapeutic outdoor centre

  • Dance Movement Psychotherapist - Dance Movement Psychotherapy centre

  • Abuse & Trauma Recovery Project Worker - Children’s charity

  • Primary Mental Health Worker - NHS and council

  • Online Youth Counsellor - Private company

My overall experience spans the human life course, from children with special needs to older people with limited mobility and cognition.


I have worked with people who are affected by:

  • anxiety

  • addictions

  • complex families

  • adoption and fostering

  • learning disabilities including autism

  • dementia

  • mental health issues

  • physical disabilities

  • brain trauma

  • children with behaviour, social, emotional difficulties

  • bereavement


As well as the formal academic trainings, I have participated in various forms of embodied and nature-based practices. These include authentic movement, body weather landscape, 5 rhythms, contact improvisation, Helen Poynor Walk of Life, Vipassana Meditation, Yoga and Feldenkrais.


My ongoing enquiry with nature-based practices includes: ecology, foraging, hill and mountain navigation, sustainable living and wild edible plants with in different cultures and traditions across Europe.
